Hero of the Week! (5.8.20)

Laura Bitzer

It’s time for the SSNC HERO OF THE WEEK

This is Laura Bitzer, the new Center Director at the Elaine Schreiber Child Development Center

Laura is a lifer in education, this being her 28th year. She’s worked in both early and elementary education and prior to this was an assistant director at KinderCare.

Laura started in March, giving her obstacles right off the jump! Although it was rough timing with the quarantine, there were also a few silver linings…

Laura has gotten to know the center inside and out. She’s taken an incredibly unfortunate circumstance and used it to really get our center in peak shape before we reopened on Monday of this week. It’s stunning to see what she’s been able to do!

Laura has big plans for the Elaine Schreiber Child Development Center and we’re ecstatic to see where she’ll lead us. With increased accreditation and ratings, we can receive further government funding. This will lead to more services, more staff, and the capacity to help more families!

The Schreiber Center does an amazing job caring for our community’s children; educating while providing a safe and warm environment to develop. With Laura’s leadership, we know the center has great things ahead of it. As we transition forward, Laura is excited to meet the kids and families of our community. While it’s only a “soft-opening” for now, she wants to make sure people know if someone is in dire need of child care; contact her. She will figure out how to accommodate them or find a center that can.

She asked me to include her email (lbitzer@ssnc-milw.org) to ensure the people of our community can reach her if they have questions about the center moving forward. It’s the little things like this that we know we have found the right captain of the ship. We want to salute her for the lifetime of passion she’s shown for education and thank her for joining our team.

That’s why she is our…

HERO OF THE WEEK!
