The Basketball & Literacy Mentorship Event occurred this week with YSDP Basketball Team, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Milwaukee Bucks
The YSDP program partnered with Hang time Elite, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Milwaukee Bucks to host a special event focused on literacy, mentorship, and youth development. Teens participated in interactive reading activities, small-group discussions, and mentorship circles designed to strengthen confidence, communication skills, and positive peer relationships.
Through this collaboration, youth had the opportunity to connect with mentors, engage with community leaders, and explore the importance of education both on and off the court. The event encouraged leadership, teamwork, and personal growth while reinforcing the value of literacy as a tool for future success.
The partnership created a fun, supportive environment where young people could build meaningful relationships, develop essential life skills, and be inspired to reach their goals. By bringing together the resources of YSDP, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Milwaukee Bucks, the event highlighted the power of community collaboration in helping youth thrive. ...
We would love to extend a huge thank you to Veolia and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for helping us throw an amazing Back-to-School event that combined environmental learning, art, and community! With their help, we were able to provide environmental programming for our youth at Elaine Schreiber Child Development Center as well as a community backpack and school supply giveaway!
We are also incredibly honored that State Representative DrSequanna Taylor joined us for some learning and fun! We are so grateful she sees the importance of our work and of community partnerships in both engaging students and helping us preserve our beautiful lakes!
