Hero of the Week! (3.6.20)
This is Daphney Watkins, an Emergency Services worker helping our community through the food pantry.
Daphney started working in the food pantry through a W2 Government Program called MAXIMUS, which helps qualified and reliable workers find employment. Every single day, Daphney comes to work ready to help feed the members of our community.
She says she loves working in emergency services because of the good it’s doing to help our neighborhood. The food pantry addresses food insecurity and provides neighborhood families wraparound services to other SSNC programs. They also provide baby food, diapers, wipes, formula, and pre / postnatal resources to pregnant women and their families. Each Friday, the Food Pantry also provides emergency food stock boxes to seniors.
A hardworking mother of six, Daphney says she likes her work to speak for herself. Everything she does is to help her children. Her supervisor can’t stress enough about what a great worker she is and how she always goes the extra mile. Daphney even helps out in departments unrelated to the food pantry, putting in extra time and effort wherever help is needed.

For residents of 53218, 53209, and 53225 who are experiencing food insecurity, please stop by the food pantry Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 9am to 2pm. For the Friday Senior Stock boxes, seniors experiencing food insecurity from any zip code are eligible.
