Hero of the Week (10.30.20)

Today’s Hero of the Week is a true Super Hero in our community and this recognition is long overdue!

Today we want to thank our amazing partners, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County for a handful of reasons!

While many of you probably at least know of United Way, we wanted to quickly touch on the incredible impact this chapter produces for our city. United Way believes in making the community stronger. By unifying organizations on critical issues, they strive to ensure everyone has a safe place to live, work, and play.

United Way fights for literacy, the basic needs of individuals in the community, the safety of people experiencing intimate partner violence, and the health and safety of the nonprofits and the people they serve. Since their start in 1909, they’ve invested over $1 billion to solve the community’s most serious problems!

This week was no different!

Partnered up with Amazon.com, United Way popped in this week and graciously donated 100 face shields to us here at the SSNC!

In a normal year, United Way is a critical part of our success here at the SSNC. In a year like 2020? They have repeatedly stepped up above and beyond to help us navigate the unforeseen difficulties of providing services during a pandemic.

Important yet simple donations like these face shields allow us to continue doing what we do best safely.

Our community relies on services like our food pantry to remain consistent and its partners like United Way that help us stay the course!

But providing face shields isn’t the only thing United Way is doing this week! We wanted to share an absolutely outstanding campaign currently going on that helps fund some of these endeavors.

Want to support organizations like the SSNC and other non-profits United Way helps? Do you also like winning cars, motorcycles, beach resort vacations, or straight up cash?

Well here’s your chance to do both!

A single gift to United Way can help hundreds of thousands of people. Since 2009, over 425,000 individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs received food, transportation, legal, and housing assistance at the most vulnerable time of their lives.

We are so thankful to be partners with them!

That’s why United Way is our…

HERO OF THE WEEK!
