March Madness may be over but today’s heroes are just getting started!
Today we want to tell you about the Silver Spring All-Stars!
In partnership with the Sam Waisbren Memorial Basketball Program, the Silver Spring All-stars are our neighborhood ballers!
They took to the court last week in a tournament in Waukegan, Illinois and won!
Heroes and champions, not a bad combo!
The All-Stars are champions on and off the court because the Sam Waisbren Memorial Basketball Program combines learning with basketball.
Programs like Layups & Literacy moves beyond basketball with a strong emphasis on education.
A former Hero of the Week you may recognize, Tony Williams, is one of the coaches and mentors of these kids. He wanted to make sure people aware they’re always looking for 3rd and 4th graders in the area who could use academic enrichment opportunities and wants to learn basketball fundamentals.
