TO HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 SSNC WILL FOLLOW MPS GUIDELINES AND CLOSE BEGINNING MONDAY, MARCH 16TH – MONDAY APRIL 13TH. DURING THIS TIME OUR FOOD PANTRY WILL REMAIN OPEN. FOOD PANTRY HOURS ARE MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY FROM 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. THANK YOU. BE SAFE AND MAINTAIN YOUR SOCIAL DISTANCE.
Hero of the Week! (3.13.20)
This is Raymond Unanka, Principal at Browning Elementary for the last 5 years. Every day, Principal Unanka heads in to work to oversee approximately 350 kids and around 50 staff members.

This is Daphney Watkins, an Emergency Services worker helping our community through the food pantry. Daphney started working in the food pantry through a W2 Government Program called MAXIMUS, which helps qualified and reliable workers find employment.

This is Alexus Bounyong, Peer Connector for our Opportunity Youth Program at the SSNC. If you’re unfamiliar with the term Opportunity Youth, it refers to disengaged youth who are out of school and out of work aged 16 to 24, a population Alexus fell into.

This is Shaneka Lyons, K5 teacher at Browning Elementary. Shaneka is a devoted mother of four, a loving wife, and one of the most incredible educators you’ll ever come across!

This is Jackie Burrell, President of the Westlawn Resident Council. As president, Jackie leads efforts to keep neighborhood residents engaged and informed.

This is Antonio Broaden, Tennis Director at Milwaukee Tennis & Education Foundation (MTEF) Every Thursday, Antonio comes into Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and teaches kids tennis but it’s so much more than that!
