Hero of the Week 9/4/20 (Jaicobi Cobb)
This is Jaicobi Cobb, Route Representative for the Hunger Task Force
If you're unfamiliar with the Hunger Task Force, Inc., we want to quickly share a bit about them due to their tireless contribution to our community. Every single day, they work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need and promoting social policies to fight food insecurity.
Unlike national food bank chains, HTF does not charge local pantries for food or network membership fees. They are 100% supported by the local community and exist to serve that local community.
We're extremely lucky to have such a wonderful partnership with the Hunger Task Force but it's never been more apparent than during a pandemic.
Every day, route representatives like Jaicobi are the folks who coordinate and deliver food to various food pantries around the city. This is not a simple task; the amount of logistics this requires is frankly staggering.
Jaicobi maintains contact with all his sites, delivering pallets of food in a timely and efficient manner.
This can change from week to week, depending on donations, what food pantries need, or specific needs of a community.
As you may imagine, 2020 is a year where services like this are more crucial (but also more complicated) than ever.
When asked who Jaicobi wanted to thank, his wonderful children and fellow coworkers came to mind. "It's a total team effort", Jaicobi explained. He says it takes a bunch of people to keep this machine moving daily, but the HTF is full of passionate people who know the importance of the job.
We want to thank Jaicobi for all he does and being such a wonderful connection to the Hunger Task Force. He helps fight food insecurity every single day and our community is so thankful for people like him.
That's why he is our...
HERO OF THE WEEK!
